 Bio

Dr Hu is a research scientist at the Decision Theater and works on 3D modeling and visualization.

He received the BS, MS and PhD degree in Mathematics from Huazhong Normal University in 1988, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China, in 1991, and Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China, in 1994, respectively.

Since receiving his PhD degree, he was postdoctoral from 1995 to 1996 and then joined the Department of Computer Science, HUST, where he was promoted to an associate professor in 1997.

He was an assistant research scientist in the Bioengineering Department and PRISM Lab at Arizona State University (ASU) from 2000 to 2003. During 2004, he worked in the Software Engineering School, HUST, and was promoted to a professor.

He has developed and implemented methods to segment biomedical volume data sets, including image statistical modeling and segmentation techniques with application to structural and quantitative analysis of 3D images. Dr. Hu published more than 20 papers in conferences, proceedings and national or international journals such as IEEE TVCG and IEEE TIP. His research interests include computer graphics, visualization, image processing, and expert systems.
