Project Description:
The project aims at providing a robust framework for modeling and subsequently visualizing complex geo-spatial data. This research is valuable for all disciplines that traditionally use GIS systems to work with geo-spatial data. Our initial example applications were the visualization of water related data, such as wells and underground water surfaces, the visualization of traffic accidents, and the visualization of ``Quality of Life'' related factors. The topics of the research project are to develop elegant and efficient modeling solutions for three-dimensional visualization, simplification, multi-scale visualization, applications, and map layouts.
Broader Impact:
The developed method can help a wide range of applications dealing with geo-spatial data. Our tool can be used in disciplines such as urban planning, traffic planning and route searching, military applications, real-estate finding, water management, business, and civil engineering.
